In this blog, I will be giving you a detailed look into the K-Pop world and how it has gained popularity over the years and what heights it has reached now.
According to Wikipedia, K-pop(abbreviation of Korean pop) is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. Although it generally classifies "popular music" within South Korea, the term is often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop that is influenced by styles and genres from around the world, such as Western pop music, rock, experimental, jazz, gospel, Latin, hip-hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, classical, and Japanese pop music on top of its uniquely traditional Korean music roots. The more modern form of the genre emerged with one of the earliest K-pop groups, Seo Taiji, and Boys, forming in 1992. Their experimentation with different styles and genres of music and integration of foreign musical elements helped reshape and modernize South Korea's contemporary music scene.
K-pop is a musical genre consisting of electronic, hip hop, pop, rock, and R&B music originating in South Korea. In addition to music, K-pop has grown into a popular subculture among teenagers and young adults throughout Asia, resulting in widespread interest in the fashion and style of Korean idol groups and singers.
I think that the first brush with Korean pop, or K-Pop, was probably with the release of the Music Video for Gangnam Style by Psy which was a great hit all over the world. With a catchy tune and invisible horse-riding dance step, the song very quickly took over the internet and became famous and broke chart records for the Korean Music Industry. The song was a great introduction to K-Pop to a lot of the people as a lot of people started to explore more as to what K-Pop had to offer
The band BTS is having a significant effect on the stock market as well. The stock prices of the Korean Exchange Market has gone surprisingly high. BTS has recently become famous around the globe and are becoming a trend all around the world.
