Introduction - to me and K-POP
Hello everyone, or Anneyoghasaeyo!
Anneyonghasaeyo is hello in Korean like Namaste in Hindi, Hola in Spanish, Konnichiwa in Japanese, etc.
I am Tanya, your author for this and the upcoming blog posts. My posts will be your little guide to the world of K-Pop Music aka Korean Pop Music. Although K-Pop Music seems like a foreign concept, as a lot of people are not familiar with the language, I will ask you not to worry and definitely refer to my further blogs to get into the world of K-Pop.
Unlike China and Japan, Korea, as well as Korean culture, are very unknown to the majority of the world. Most of the Korean culture is adapted from Chinese culture, the language, the ethics, the traditions, etc. Korea is divided into two parts - North Korea and South Korea but K-Pop music is solely generated in South Korea, it does not include North Korean music at all.
I first got into the K-Pop world not very long ago - at the beginning of 2017 - with the song Blood, Sweat and Tears by BTS. Even though I did not understand the language in the beginning, the song was just so catchy, I had to give it a try. At first I only listened to BTS but later I moved on to other groups like GOT7, EXO, BLACKPINK, Twice, Red Velvet and then further to more groups. But now, I have good knowledge of the Korean language and so it is easier for me to listen to the songs and understand the meaning behind the song and if sometimes I don't get it, I always search for translations which are a great help in such situations.
I would just like to say that I completely understand that K-Pop does not seem very interesting and is not even that popular but I hope my further blogs will help change your mindset and viewpoint towards K-Pop.
Until then,
Anneyong! (Bye!)
